Floor Preparation

Preparing the floor properly is essential if you want your floor to last a long time.

The floor preparation required depends on the type of floor you are laying on top of.

For wooden floors, we begin by leveling the floor with feathered 6mm plywood to ensure a perfectly flat surface.

If it’s a stone surface we use a layer of latex to find the perfect level for your floor.

If damp is expected to be a problem, we always begin the job with a Damp Proof Membrane (DPM).

This prevents any moisture reaching the layer of latex, allowing it to cure properly.

We take the prep work very seriously at Murch Flooring as we know from experience that poor floor prep is one of the main reasons floors are old before their time.
