One of our favourite installations last year was at St George’s Hospital in Tooting. Hospital floors need to be safe and hygienic, that’s why we fitted a 2-tone, body and border safety floor with “up-the-cove” edges for easy cleaning.
We were bought in to replace a poorly laid floor that had not been installed correctly. The edges were lifting, the floor wasn’t even and the quality of the joins left a lot to be desired.
We started of by removing the old floor and re-latexing the floor to ensure it was perfectly smooth and sealed.
We then laid the outer edge of blue with the up-the-cove feature. If you haven’t heard of it before, up-the-cove is simply a way of laying the edge of the floor so that it extends slightly up the wall. This makes cleaning the floors a lot easier and hygienic as there is no corner where bacteria can grow.
Lastly, we installed a Forest FX wood effect vinyl for the main part of the floor. This contrasted beautifully with the dark blue edge and was seamlessly bonded to give a finished floor that was both beautiful, safe and hygienic.
